Our Top Weekend Events for April 5-7

1. First Fridays on Main Street. Tonight from 6 to 9 p.m., explore Downtown Libertyville with dinner, along with a stroll through local shops that offer live music and promotional events. Tonight, First Friday participants include Tommy’s Pizza & Sports Pub, Studio West, Trattoria Pomigliano, 545 North Bar & Grill with Paul from ABC’s “The Taste” and more. Downtown Libertyville.

O Captain! My Captain at the Lincoln Exhibit. Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m., actor R. J. Lindsay will portray poet and Civil War nurse Walt Whitman. O Captain! My Captain! is Whitman’s ode to the fallen President, Abraham Lincoln. The Grayslake Heritage Center is the final of only 11 stops in the nation to host this traveling exhibition about Abraham Lincoln. The exhibit is open Wednesdays - Sundays with no admission fee, but donations are welcome. Grayslake Heritage Center, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake.

3. Movie Night at the Genesee Theatre. Tonight at 7:30 p.m., celebrate the beginning of a brand new baseball season by coming out to see the classic 1992 movie “A League of Their Own” starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna and more! Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children, seniors and military personnel with ID. Genesee Theatre, 203 N. Genesee St., Waukegan.

4. Month of the Military Child at Great Lakes Naval Museum. Saturday, April 6 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., free and open to the public, the Naval Museum will be hosting a Scottish-themed “Day in Highlands” activity for children. The event will include a performance by the Thistle and Heather Highland Dancers, along with a “Make a Scottish Shield” craft activity. Great Lakes Naval Museum, 610 Farragut Ave. Building 42, Great Lakes.

5. Et tu Brute, AOK, Tracer Bullet & Ocelot at Aloha Falls. Saturday, April 6. Enjoy great live music by local punk rock bands for an all ages show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8. Aloha Falls, 1800 US Hwy 45, Libertyville.
