Apple Cider and Pumpkin Donuts

The Lincolnshire farm always offers a ton between their greenhouse, farmstand and pumpkin fest. However, as soon as you walk through the Didier threshold, those aromas of apple cider and pumpkin waft through the air. Didier donuts are baked right on the farm. We can't help but exclaim the Homer Simpson phrase "mmm...donuts." Pumpkinfest opens September 21 runs through October 31.

2. Long Grove Confectionery Co. in Long Grove, Wauconda and Buffalo Grove

Brown Bag Apple Pie

Made with the same care and recipe as the original Apple Haus Brown Bag Apple Pie, the confectionery's brown bag apple pie is a must-have autumn treat. The dessert is made with fresh apples, real butter and no preservatives. The brown bag helps create a crunchy outer layer of the pie. If you don't leave with one either freshly baked or an unbaked frozen version today, drop by when you go to the village's Apple Fest September 20-22.

Something Brewing Signature Muffins

Tis the season to devour fall muffins. Besides the different coffees like pumpkin spice and other warming beverages they'll offer during the autumn season, the Grayslake eatery bakes a mean muffin. Their hearty autumn treat menu features Harvest Spice (pumpkin with a crumble top and chocolate), Taffy Apple (caramel, Pumpkin swirl (cream cheese filling and streusel topping crumble top) and pumpkin nuts (looks like pumpkin bread, tastes like pumpkin bread, but brother, it ain't pumpkin bread). Do you know the muffin man and woman? They live on Washington and Center Streets.
