Can you imagine over 7,000 women coming together to run a 5k and conquer challenging obstacles all in the dirty, wet, soggy mud? I can't wait!
We are only days away until me and 11 close friends become Dirty Girls! This will be a first time event for most of us and we are all experiencing the pre-race jitters and excitement already. The race will be held at the new Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake on Saturday and Sunday 6/30 and 7/1. It is expected to be a very toasty weekend in Lake County but lucky for us we signed up for an early time slot. Hopefully that will mean slightly less mud on the course to trudge through.
The course itself consists of 11 obstacles spread out over a 3.1 mile run. The obstacles are meant to be fun and most of all DIRTY! We will be jumping into a water pit, hanging through tires, climbing over hay bales, crawling through tunnels and praying we get over the wall! It should be very entertaining to watch my team of mom's in our late 30's/ early 40's get covered in mud from head to toe. Our cheering section of husbands and kids will have the time of their lives watching us! This is definitely going to be a unique experience for all!
The Dirty Girl Mud Run has 15 events scheduled across the U.S. and this is the only one in Illinois. The number of participants is AMAZING from local women as well as many coming in from out of state for this unforgettable event! If you are free this weekend, I would highly recommend a trip to the new Lake County Fairgrounds for some good dirty entertainment!
We'll be there bright and early on Saturday morning with our matching red shirts, clown socks (and possibly goggles)! We'll see how long it takes until they are completely covered in mud.
Are you participating in the Dirty Girl Mud Run this weekend? If so, what are you most excited or nervous about? Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend!
Watch out mud- here we come!
