Located near the middle of the mall, the play area features a walled in, carpeted lounge where parents can catch their breath and charge their phones or any other electronic devices into the built in outlets while their kids run off and play on miniature versions of famous Chicago attractions. From a Willis (I still call it Sears) Tower slide to a Navy Pier fort or an enlarged functioning musical keyboard, there are enough playthings to keep any young child entertained.
New retail stores have recently been added as well including: Buy Buy Baby, New Balance, an Abercrombie & Fitch Factory Store and Justice & Brothers. Outside of the mall, Gurnee Mills installed a brand new eye catching sign that can be seen right off of IL route 94.
More additions are scheduled to be completed in 2013 including Macy’s, a new anchor store that will open in August. Gurnee Mills will be renovating an entire wing of the mall starting January to a brighter and more upscale appearance. Changes incorporate new lighting, ceiling panels, and a fancy glass door storefront appearance. The road surrounding Gurnee Mills is also planned to be renovated next year.
Many exciting changes are coming to Gurnee Mills Mall in 2013 and some of these can already be seen today. For a quick look, be sure to check out our Gurnee Mills Holiday Webisode !
