Independence Grove by: Matthew H.

Majestic horses, one-of-a-kind 115 acre lake, bike trails and amazing sightseeing. If you guessed Independence Grove than you are right.

This exquisite attraction is located off of Buckley Road in Libertyville, Illinois. Unlike other places it is open to all ages.

It is open daily from 6:30am until sunset. For residents of Lake County it is free, unless you use the beach and for non-residents it is only $5 per car.

The amazing beach has warm sand. To go along with that there are terrific bike trails all over the magnificent forest preserve. There is a separate lake for boating. You can boat all around the lake and fish for huge cat fish or blue gill. If you don’t have a boat, you can rent one there. You can also buy all your fishing supplies there too.  Your whole family will love it.

In the winter you can cross country ski and ice skate if there is snow and the ice is thick enough. You can also just take a hike down the trails.

You can bring a picnic lunch and have a family picnic during the day. I strongly urge you to come to Independence Grove and bring the family or just come by yourself and enjoy the peaceful setting.
