Mini Abe continues his adventure across Lake County. I’ll let him tell you about his second day.
Richardson Adventure Farm
My first stop of the day was the Richardson Adventure Farm.
The farm features the world’s largest corn maze at 33 acres with 11 miles of trails.
Onward, Renegade! We’ve got a lot to see today in Lake County!
Miller’s Dog N Suds Drive-In
Riding horses sure does make a former president hungry, so I traveled to Miller’s Dog n Suds Drive-In in Ingleside to fill up on some grub.
I was taken aback to the 50s — the 1950s, that is — to a classic drive-in.
This is a true drive-in. No need to get out of the car…
The hardest part of my stop at Miller’s was deciding what to order. Everything on the menu sounded delicious.
The wonderful staff bring your food right to you! Who ordered the Mini Abe Deluxe?
I’ve had many a glasses of root beer, but Miller’s Dog n Suds homemade root beer may just be the best.
I even grabbed a photo with Roy of Miller’s Dog n Suds.
With my hunger satisfied, it was time for my next stop:
The Roxana Hotel / Bed & Breakfast
After a big lunch at Miller’s, I was ready to relax. Luckily, I found myself at the Roxana Hotel and Bed & Breakfast in Fox Lake.
It’s a 1893 historic Victorian resort and bed and breakfast set on three tree covered acres on the beautiful Mineola Bay of Fox Lake.
Inside, I found a few familiar faces:
I think the artist captured my good side.
I think I’ll take these back for my home office.
Gordy’s Marine at Fox Lake
I decided to conclude my second day in Lake County at Gordy’s Marine on Fox Lake (part of the Chain O’Lakes waterway system).
Navigating a boat across the lake was a fun experience. I’ve put in an order for a Mini Abe-sized boat for my next visit.
Remember: safety first!
Is this the life, or is this the life?
And don’t forget to see what I did on my first day in Lake County.
Until next time!
