Mini Abe is continuing his exciting week in Lake County, and he still has many items to cross off his Lake County bucket list. I’ll let him share the details of his day:
Residence Inn by Marriott – Chicago-Waukegan
I began my day at the Residence Inn of Waukegan.
The accommodations were very comfortable. I would need the rest for the day ahead.
With the sun shining, I decided to sip a root beer poolside.
Remember, safety first!
I warmed up with the recreational amenities before reaching my next stop:
The Field House Sports & Fitness Center
Next, I visited the Field House sports and fitness complex in Waukegan.
What a welcome!
A short jog on the treadmill was a great way to warm up.
I think I need to work on my strength training.
I needed to brush up on my basketball skills. Luckily, the facility had plenty of room to do just that.
Let’s say I got a little too competitive. Does anyone want to get me down from here?
Next, I put my climbing boots on to scale the Field House’s rock-climbing wall.
I really enjoyed my time at the Field House – the staff was spectacular!
Jim & Steve’s Sportscard Shop
My visit to the Field House had me thinking sports, so I stopped by Jim & Steve’s Sportscard Shop in Waukegan to stock up on sports memorabilia and trading cards.
Who wants to trade?
I saw a few well-known faces while I was in the store.
Next, I visited the historic Genesee Theatre in downtown Waukegan, and they had quite the surprise waiting for me!
I always dreamed of seeing my name on the marquee!
How cool is that!
I wish I could put this in my living room.
Many thanks to the Genesee staff for making this possible!
After another full day in Lake County, I was ready to relax:
Courtyard By Marriott – Waukegan/Gurnee
Finally, I decided to relax at the Courtyard by Marriott in the Waukegan/Gurnee area.
The people here really do go the extra mile – great service all around.
Decision time: deciding which drink to order at the Bistro.
All of the choices sounded very refreshing after my action-packed day.
Last but certainly not least, I was honored to sit on the shoulder of one of Naval Station Great Lakes’ newest graduates.
See what I’ve done so far:
