I recently visited the Orchid Show at the Chicago Botanic Garden. What a great escape from winter! As much as I’d love to be able to hop on a plane and see these beautiful flowers in their natural Hawaiian habitats, this is definitely the next best thing. Warm temperatures in the greenhouses, plenty of happy and smiling faces, and let’s not forget over 12,000 orchids decorating every surface and corner in sight… it’s the perfect pick me up to get us through to spring!
The Chicago Botanic Garden’s Orchid Show runs Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. through March 16. Like always, admission to the gardens is free, but admission to the Orchid show is $10 Adult & $8 for Seniors and Children.
During the weekends of Feb. 14-16 & 21-23, learn about Hawaiian culture and the role these beautiful flowers and other plant life continue to play in ancient traditions.
Learn how different patterns carved into bamboo create a visual representation of families, villages and folklore through the art of stamping. (Left)
