Food. Can’t live without it, Can’t live without it (wait a second, did a say that twice?).
The sensational aroma that wafts through your nostrils in Lincolnshire every other Friday is the aforementioned town’s Food Truck Fridays sponsored by the Village of Lincolnshire and Van Vlissingen and Co.
The trucks position themselves strategically in Lincolnshire Corporate Center’s Parking Lot – the Southwest corner of Milwaukee and Knightsbridge. to prepare themselves for the rush of belly growling office workers.
The President of Visit Lake County Maureen Riedy, Director of Marketing Anthony Haag and I went to see what all of the hubbub was all about at our visit to Food Truck Fridays in Lincolnshire.
Food Truck Friday began in 2013 as a part of the Taste of Lincolnshire and has been popular ever since.
The Trucks that are featured on each fortnight include Toasty Cheese from Schaumburg, Grill Chasers, Louie B. Fresh, Best Truckin’ BBQ, Daniel’s Raw – Paleo, Mario’s Cart 17 and Frost Gelato.
Visit Lake County Director of Marketing Anthony Haag spoke with Village of Lincolnshire mayor Elizabeth Brandt in regards to the upcoming events and origin of Food Truck Fridays.
“We started with Food Trucks in Lincolnshire at our Taste of Lincolnshire," said Mayor Brandt. "It was so successful we decided to create a Food Trucks Friday event every other Friday. Lincolnshire is kind of a unique community because we have 7500 residents but we have a day population of 30000 workers coming into work in the corporate center. Today I’m seeing Lincolnshire residents, Stevenson students, so I think it’s a fun concept for everyone rain or shine.”
Besides today, the gourmet lunch will happen July 24, August 7 and August 21. The July 24 location will change to Village Green Center (Northeast corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Olde Half Day Road) for the Taste of Lincolnshire.
Admission and parking to any of the Food Truck Friday lunches are free.
