Any day to celebrate their special someone, is the opportunity that you will take. Valentine's Day is a little bit of ways a way (and we're all not looking forward to the frigid February temperatures), so we find a way during the comfortable fall seasons to take advantage of our loved ones with Sweetest Day in Lake County. 

Time to cue the flowers, the candies and the eardrum piercing corny love songs like, 'My Endless Love.'

Plus with all of the Halloween, some have had their fill. I know we haven't at Lake County and you could make the Spooks and Spirits apart of your Sweetest Day celebration. Either way, Sweetest Day in Lake County is Saturday, October 15. So start making your reservations at your eateries and make a stop at Gurnee Mills, Hawthorn Mall or Deer Park Town Center for a present.

Candlelit dinner and/or Suds, Spirits & Shiraz

Broken Earth Winery's Chomp & Stomp and Harvest Festival 1-4 p.m.

The festival will include live music throughout the day and the annual grape stomp competition. Live entertainment from The Mother Corn Shuckers and Cuesta Ridge. Market Place vendors and food available all day. Come out for a grape stompin', knee slappin', sausage chompin' good time. Grape stompers are $10 each and prizes will be awarded. There will also be a all-you-can eat sausage BBQ for $10.

Sip & Savor on the Lake 4-7 p.m.

Buy tickets now and come out and enjoy a delicious Appetizers paired with a variety of fine Wines, Spirits & Beer. Bring your special date for Sweetest Day! Enjoy the Solo Violinist and shop the vendor booths for that special gift or treat yourself to something nice. There will also be complimentary gifts & door prizes. Pre-registration is required. Limited tickets on sale.

Still Joel & Just Jake at Copper Fiddle 7:30 p.m.

Still Joel and Just Jake is an acoustic duo playing a mix of contemporary and standard blues and more.

Miller's Dog N Suds Classic Car Cruise Night 5-10 p.m.

Every Saturday night come enjoy Lake County's Original Classic Car Night at Miller's Dog N Suds 50's Style Drive-In. Cars pre-1973 or older, plenty of parkihg for the public. The Car Hops will be happy to serve frosted mugs of real draft root beer, Coney Dogs, Texasburgers, root beer floats and much more. Bring a lawn chair.

How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying 4:30 & 8 p.m.

This Pulitzer Prize-Winning classic will follow the journey and the rise of eager young J. Pierrepont Finch. Finch, a window-washer joins a huge corporation by starting in the mail room, and becomes chairman of the board two weeks later. This show is one not to be missed.

The Second City "Free Speech (While Supplies Last)" @ James Lumber Begins at 8 p.m.

The Second City Touring Company performs "Free Speech! (While Supplies Last)," an irreverent look at America's electoral insanity. This topical new show features political satire made famous by Second City stars like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert and Keegan-Michael Key. It's a must-see evening of comedy that features some of Chicago's best and brightest and a majority of laughs.

The Birds at the Citadel Theatre

Daphne du Maurier’s story, the basis for Hitchcock’s film, is adapted by Conor McPherson—an unsettling look at human relationships in the face of societal collapse. Strangers Nat, Diane and Julia take shelter from relentless masses of attacking birds.

The Last Man on Earth at the Three Brother's Theatre 8 p.m.

Based on the 1964 film and 1954 Richard Matheson novel, The Last Man On Earth tells the creepy tale of Dr. Robert Morgan living in a world left destitute by a plague. The creatures that roam the streets are nothing like their human selves and in order to survive he must protect himself at all costs. During the day, he hunts them and scavenges for food. But during the night, he locks himself inside his home where there are just as many demons inside as there are outside.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour at Tempel Lipizzans 10 a.m.

Come for a very special behind-the-scenes look at The Tempel Lipizzans program. Our tour will take you through the stables to learn all about the history of the Lipizzan, classical riding, and our farm. We finish in the arena with a daily training session and questions with the trainers.

Fall with Farm Fresh Cooking Class @ Marriott Lincolnshire Resort 2-4 p.m.

All Chicagoland residents and resort guests are invited to attend the hands-on cooking class, where Chef Pierre Daval will educate attendees on fall produce, best preparation and cooking practices. This fall’s cooking class will feature a honey vinaigrette-topped roasted beet salad with calypso cheddar and crispy kale, as well as a pan-seared Wisconsin Trout with celery root puree, maple beurre blanc, and glazed carrots. Students will get the opportunity to work with beets and carrots from the resort’s farm, and experience a unique viewing of the resort’s on-site bee hives.

An Evening With Joe Diamond Package at KeyLime Cove (There's also a Sunday Show)

Maze til Midnight by the light of the full moon in the World's Largest Corn Maze, with 33 acres and 11 miles of trails. Explore the whole thing or just one short trail. Bring flashlights or glow-sticks, or buy some on-site. Wooded picnic area, free campfires, pedal carts, corn crib, pumpkin patch, wagon rides, 50' tube slide, 50' observation tower, 700' zip line, Zorbing and concessions.
