It’s that time of year again. Where your taste buds are in bliss and the food options are endless. You don’t need to eat gruel anymore, because Lincolnshire provides residents and visitors with food glorious food, hot sausage and mustard! While we're in the mood --Cold jelly and custard!
The Village of Lincolnshire with partnerships and sponsors in the community kicks off their decade-and-one-half-old: The Taste of Lincolnshire 2015 Friday July 24 through July 26.
The event will kick off with the Food Truck Friday – which is usually located at the corporate center, but migrates back to the Taste where it originated from in 2013 - in the parking lot west of the former Flatlander’s building 200 Olde Half Day Road.
Watch the video below as Visit Lake County Director of Marketing Anthony Haag and I visited Food Truck Fridays two weeks ago. The food trucks will return to their normal summer location after the Taste of Lincolnshire.
Besides the delicious dishes that the Taste of Lincolnshire at Village Green (located at the northeast corner of Olde Half Day Road and Milwaukee Avenue) there will also be many activities for the kids, cooking demonstrations (so you can become the frugal gourmet) and of course live entertainment.
Some of the featured restaurants that will be providing the mouth-watering eats include Marriott Resort, The Fresh Market, Eddie Merlot’s, Prairie House, El Barrio, Luke’s of Mundelein, Dairy Queen (read more at our I Scream for Ice Cream blog), Tres Flores Funnel Cakes, Candy Bouquet (Costco), Best Truckin’ Food truck (Food Truck Friday participant) Yum Dum Food Truck, Mario’s Cart Food Truck (Food Truck Fridays) Giordano’s Food Truck, La Cocinita Food Truck, Daniel’s Raw-Paleo Cuisine, Food Truck, Auntie Vee’s Cupcakes, Desserts & Pastries Food Truck.
Activities and entertainment for the youngsters include Touch-a-Truck, magicians, balloon artists, character actors and face painting.
Sometimes you need a break when you’re having the meal of your life. Well, bands will be on hand all weekend. On Friday, the Lincolnshire event Matt Feddermann, Indika and Class of 68 performing, while Suday features Sipas & Young Band and Los Perros Cubanos.
Saturday’s live music performances feature If We Were, Thunder Road, Dylan Kroll of Waukegan, Mad Dogs & Englishmen and Fortunate Sons. Watch the video below of Dylan Kroll’s song ‘Lake County, the Bounty of Illinois,’ which has gone viral.
