Things To Do This Weekend August 14-16, 2020

We hope you enjoyed the unbelievable array of eats last week at our inaugural Lake County Restaurant Rally. Continue here to come back for seconds throughout this public health crisis.

For some, this is their kids’ last taste of summer. For others, the youngsters will remain at home through the fall. Whatever is going on in your life, Lake County has plenty of things to do this weekend August 14-16.

Whether your fancy is that of the artistic flair, wining and dining, the equine ballet or the exploration of the final frontier, the land of lakes has a weekend plan for you.

Here are your top five things to do this weekend August 14-16

1. Lincolnshire Art Festival

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up” – Pablo Picasso. Lincolnshire Art Walk returns in its 22nd installment. The artful, mindful and socially distanced art walk features a smaller, carefully curated group of artists at the Village Green showcasing artists’ painting, jewelry, sculpting, photography, fashion wearables and more. With the ongoing public health crisis, visitors are required to make reservations, and the walk is timed. The Village Green hosted fest scheduled a 9-10 a.m. time slot for those with special health conditions. Face coverings are required for all visitors ages two and older and social distancing is to be practiced when arriving. Visit LincolnshireArtFestival.com for the full list of artists, registration and COVID-19 protocols.

Before the monthly art celebration, artists are invited to help with the Genesee Theatre mural restoration project.  Waukegan Main Street will also host a virtual ArtWauk on its website and social media. “The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of Lipizzans danced in their heads.” Equine lovers will gather at the Old Mill Creek farm to view the stallions cutting a rug. Visitors will sit socially-distanced, ringside at their outdoor arena while professional trainers and the most highly trained Lipizzan horses go through the process of dressage (dancing). How the Lipizzan stallion learns to dance is a rare opportunity in a serene country setting. In the case of rain, the event will be conducted in the farm’s open-air indoor arena. Tempel Lipizzan holds this “bust a move” event periodically through December 5.
