Receive a taste of the Native American heritage to heighten awareness of their history at the 24th Annual Potawatomi Trails Pow Wow. Join the celebration as you listen and witness the history, traditions and customs of the Native Americans. Other festivities occurring at this Zion fiesta include live demonstrations, music & dance presentations, educational sessions and a trader area.
Saturday-Sunday, August 26-27; Sat 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Shiloh Park, 27th Street, Zion.
Look in the sky – it’s a bird, it’s a plane. Is it a plethora of hot-air balloons? The Annual Grayslake Color Aloft Balloon Festival gives attendees the opportunity to witness the inflation and competition as aircraft experts contend in a ‘Fox and Hounds Contest.’ After the sun sets, the sky will light up with the burners of the balloons that illuminate the night. The event includes live music, family activities and a variety of food and beverage vendors.

The New York Times raved that “Honeymoon In Vegas” is “a real-live, old fashioned, deeply satisfying Broadway musical in a way few new shows are anymore!” Based on the classic 1992 film comedy starring Sarah Jessica Parker, James Caan and Nicholas Cage, the Lincolnshire show is a hilarious story of commitment-phobe Jack, his not-so-patient girlfriend Betsy and a professional gambler named Tommy. This is a musical comedy in the Golden Age Tradition with gags games and great tunes, highlighting a book by Andrew Bergman (who wrote and directed the original film) and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown.

“Summer days drifting away to, uh oh, those summer nights” in Waukegan. As summer comes to a close, Olivia Newton-John graces the stage at Genesee Theatre. Newton-John has earned four Grammy Awards, five number-one hits and ten other Top Ten Billboard Hot Singles. The English-Australian singer, songwriter and actress has sold 100-million records worldwide which makes her a member of the best-selling musicians of all-time list. Newton-John is also known for her portrayal as Sandy Olsson in the 1978 film, “Grease.”
Friday, Saturday, August 25; 7:30 p.m. Genesee Theatre, 203 N. Genesee St., Waukegan.
Your eyes will enjoy a kaleidoscope of colors and scenic views as you pedal your two wheeler through the Glencoe sanctuary. Bicyclists of all ages can ride the full perimeter of the Chicago Botanic Garden only to cross the finish line with a celebration. The finale of the event provides festivities, vendors and information tables at the McDonald Woods pavilion. Visitors that register in advance are placed in a raffle for a chance to win a mountain bike.
