Get a taste of the Caribbean this weekend at the annual Scoop Waukegan. The two-day event will feature one of Lake County’s greatest car shows, live entertainment, beer gardens, food courts, family fun and more. The island-themed party will provide bites of the Caribbean from local vendors including Riviera Nayarit, Taste of the Carib, Lightning BBQ and other delicious eats from Waukegan restaurants. The fun continues with the Waukegan Days Carnival on Genesee and Grand Avenues as the sweet sounds of live music fill the air from three major stages. Performances from Ivy Ford, Master Blaster, the Meteors, Gospel on the Beach, Hurricane Reggae Band and more.

Indulge your family at the Marriott Theatre’s latest children’s play this weekend. “Pinkalicious” is based off the popular book written by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann. The tale involves a young girl that can’t quit eating pink cupcakes despite numerous warnings from her parents. Her habit leads to a visit to the doctor’s office as she is diagnosed with a case of Pinkititis - turning her pink from head to toe. However, once her symptoms go too far, only Pinkalicious can find a way out of the pink predicament. Pinkalicious runs through August 12.

Sprint down to downtown Grayslake for the annual Family Fun Run 5K. Weave through the streets of the quaint downtown and show off your fastest (or slowest) times. The race will begin at 8 a.m. and the children's at 7:30 a.m. Awards will be given to the first three finishers in various categories.

The Constellation Senior Players PGA Tournament continues this weekend at the Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park. Witness the world’s greatest golfers compete at the extravagant course featuring 2017 defending champion Scott McCarron, John Daly, Scott Dunlap, Vijay Singh and more. See pro golf stars of yesteryear as they play for several local and national charities.
Friday-Sunday, July 13-15; Tournament begins daily at 7:30 a.m. Exmoor Country Club, 700 Vine Ave., Highland Park.
Swing the night away at Blarney Island as the Swon Brothers grace the Midwest island for a night of live music. The Swon Brothers are best known for finishing in third place on NBC’s “The Voice” on its fourth season. Their self-titled album peaked at no. 6 on the US Country Billboard Chart. The country duo will perform original songs from several of their albums. An $8 roundtrip boat shuttle service is available at Port O’Blarney.

Have a holly jolly July at Hawthorn Mall this weekend. Visit the Vernon Hills shopping center for their Christmas in July event. Attendees are encouraged to donate a toy for a child in need or make a $5 donation to receive a photo with Santa. Shoppers that spend more than $150 throughout the two-day event will receive a free Hallmark ornament while supplies last. Hawthorn Mall, with help from Santa, is also giving away a $500 shopping spree, a Hallmark holiday gift basket, $100 gift card to Pandora and many other prizes.
