A variety of phenomenal libations, mouth-watering eats and live entertainment surrounds the event as you peruse the Lake County local mom and pop stores offering promotional sales. “Gonna make a sentimental journey, to renew old memories.” The Citadel Theatre presents “Sentimental Journey: A Musical Tale of Love and War.” The Doris Day-titled musical is a one-man show written and performed by Ross Leman. The tale follows the narrator’s parents love story as the two guardians fall in love during World War II. This world premiere feature showcases renowned tunes from the era such as “We’ll Meet Again,” “Don’t Fence Me In” and the musical’s title song. The show runs through May 26. Running enthusiasts will do their best buck and doe impersonations as they compete in the Annual Deer Dash in Deerfield. This Jaycee Park dash features a 5K, 10K races and a one-mile fun run designed for both beginning and experienced runners. Bring the family and friends to cheer on competitors of all ages. There are no age group awards because everyone who finishes is a winner. To sign up on race day, you must register by 6:45 a.m. Check-in opens at 6:15 a.m. Admission to the dash includes a race T-shirt, race packet and refreshments. Trivia, obstacles and a heavy dose of nostalgia are all on center stage at Genesee Theatre as Double Dare brings its disheveled game show on the road to the Waukegan historical landmark. With host Marc Summers leading the helm, contestants will have to answer mind-boggling questions in order to win and not be slimed.
