It’s Veteran’s Day next week on Wednesday on November 11. Mostly in Lake County, you will hear Non sibi sed patriae or Anchors away my boy due to Naval Station Great Lakes being in our backyard.

On Veteran’s Day we celebrate the women and men in the United States that have fought valiantly to maintain or freedom. Some of these heroes are still with us, and some have fallen, but all should be honored for putting their lives on the line for us.

That said, Lake County knows how to throw a celebration for these champions. I have to give a brief 090716-N-8848T-514nod to my father and my grandfather (who just recently passed after a wonderful and successful 89 years) Dr. Lynwood A. Jones III and Dr. Lynwood A. Jones Jr respectively who were in the U.S. Navy and trained at Naval Station Great Lakes.

To all of those who were a member  of the U.S. military, we thank you for your service.
