Come out for an evening of arts, music, theatre, film and dance at the Waukegan ArtWauk. The ArtWauk will take place this Saturday June 16th from 5-10 pm in downtown Waukegan. Bring a friend or spouse and take a stroll down Genesee St. and visit the art galleries, grab a bite to eat, listen to the music and enjoy the live entertainment. Then hang around for the after party.
Don’t miss the 2012 Libertyville Days Festival in downtown Libertyville. The festival will begin on Thursday night from 5-11pm and continue Friday 11am-11pm, Saturday 10am-11pm and Sunday 10am- 6pm. Bring the family and enjoy carnival rides, taste of Libertyville, beer tent, arts and craft fair, live entertainment and more. New this year will be a rib cook-off on Saturday and a Pet Pageant on Sunday. There will also be a children’s party, tween and teen dance, Baggo Tournament, and a Corvette and Chevy Street Rod Show. Don’t miss the parade on Saturday at 10am.
Enjoy a full hour canoeing the lakes of Chicago Botanic Gardens this Father’s Day weekend! The Garden invites you to partake in a rare opportunity to canoe the lakes of the Chicago Botanic Garden. Bob Kirschner, the Garden’s aquatic biologist, will paddle along and explain the nationally recognized program to restore and enhance the Garden’s miles of lakeshore. No experience with canoeing is necessary; instruction, canoes, life jackets, and paddles are all provided. Start times for this event are Saturday-Sunday: 9am, 11am or 1pm.
Experience a day of fine art, family entertainment and good food from local food vendors at the 17th Annual Arts Festival, located in Downtown Grayslake on Center St. Artists from all over the Midwest will be displaying and selling their work including pottery, watercolors, oil and pastel paintings, pen and ink drawings, woods, photography and much more. There will also be children’s activities and a high school exhibit.
Make sure you stop by the Key West in the Midwest Car Show and Cruise-in at the Volo Auto Museum on Sunday from 10am – 5pm. Every dad and 1 passenger will get in free when they drive in a classic car. There will be free train rides, tours of the vault that includes cars of the rich and famous, Jimmy Buffett hits performed by South of Disorder and much more.
