The day started off a little overcast, but we waited off a little early day rain by drinking tea in their cafe, and like I said... there's really no bad time to visit. And with our tea in hand, we made our way through the stunning views ahead of us. Here are some pictures of our day at the Chicago Botanic Garden!
Did you know they plant hundreds of pink tulips to bloom every year, right in time for Mother's Day? But the great thing about this place, is that they've planned out all of their planting, so as soon as one bloom is over, a new one has taken its place! While we were a few weeks late to see the Mother's Day bloom, there was another garden with fresh tulips blooming right next to it. (pictured)
I don't know about you, but I can't imagine a bench more perfectly placed. It makes me want to go back with a good long book!
And the science that goes into knowing what color plants these bulbs will become, creates stunning displays of color combinations.
As our walk continued, the gardens also changed. From the peaceful Japanese Gardens, to the prim and proper English Gardens, the landscape is constantly changing.
This was the sweetest and most fragrant garden I've ever been in! And being surrounded by all of the crab apple trees in full bloom was something I think everyone should experience.
Make sure you grab a group shot before you leave! There are plenty of friendly people around, and if you ask nicely, they're likely to take your group picture if you volunteer to return the favor. It's a great way to spend a day with family and friends and as one of the world's most revered garden spaces, there's really nothing not to love about it.
