I personally have a love for water and aquatics, growing up as a swimmer, lifeguarding when I was younger and coaching club and high school swimming after college. So talking with Mitch was a great experience for me. I love hearing how the Aquatics industry has changed and the safety requirements and how you have to sometimes be tough if people are not following the rules but know that you are there for them and are creating a safe environment. Within minutes of meeting Mitch, I could feel his passion for the Aquatics and Hospitality Industry. He tries to make each day a unique experience and takes pride in providing a safe aquatics environment. Next time I take my kid to KeyLime Cove, I know that Mitch will be there smiling and making sure that we are safe. KeyLime Cove has 150 lifeguards on staff and some of them have over 20 years experience, and he told me that he believes that the staff is what truly makes working at KeyLime Cove and the Hospitality Industry a great experience. Here are some questions that we asked Mitch on why he loves working in the tourism industry.
What do you enjoy most about your job? I really enjoy working with the staff we have in the Aquatics Department. We constantly strive to provide the guests the safest and most enjoyable experience possible as well as push to be leaders within the aquatics industry with our programs and safety standards.
How do you try to make a guests experience unique? We give guests more than just a hotel stay, we give them an experience of coming to a tropical destination. We strive to give every guest a taste of paradise.
What interested you in going into the Hospitality Industry? I actually had been working as a welder and had ended up being laid off. After looking for a welding job without success I asked a few of my friends who were lifeguards if they were hiring. I ended up coming on as a lifeguard shortly after. I didn't have plans to be in the hospitality industry, but as I continued to work my way up, my passion for aquatics and hospitality had grown into what it is today.
