As the winter chill sets in, the Village of Vernon Hills is ready for a celebration that promises to spark holiday joy. Witness the magical illumination of the village tree, menorah and Kwanzaa displays. Experience the countdown and the joyous moment when the lights come alive. Santa Claus will make a special appearance providing light refreshments for visitors, and adding a touch of holiday magic. This heartwarming community gathering is a collaboration with the Countryside Fire Protection District, Vernon Hills Police Department and the village park district. The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, and what better way to kick off the holiday season than with the opening of Richardson's Christmas Tree Farm? Renew the timeless tradition of selecting and harvesting your family Christmas tree straight from the source. Beyond the trees, Richardson's Christmas Tree Farm offers an opportunity to create cherished memories with loved ones. The Spring Grove facility provides equipment to cut your own arbor, or you can order pre-cut trees like Fraser and Canaan Fir species. Richardson also makes garland and wreaths from December 3-10. Capture the moment with family photos, enjoy the festive ambiance and relish the joy of finding the centerpiece for your holiday celebrations. Escape the chill in their heated sales barn, where the festive spirit is as warm as the cocoa, freshly-made donuts, homemade fudge and popcorn are served and made on site.. If you opt to cut your tree, the friendly staff will assist you in shaking and baling your holiday arbor, as well as help you attach to your car. Join the fun at Richardson's Christmas Tree Farm and let the holiday magic unfold. The fields are open to cut your trees through December 3, while the barn remains open for pre-cut arbor sales through December 10. Get ready to be dazzled as the Village of Fox Lake invites you to the mesmerizing the town’s Festival of Lights! Kick off your festive adventure at the Kris Kringle Winter Market, located at the Community Garden Green, from 3-6 p.m. Immerse yourself in a winter wonderland of holiday delights featuring local vendors offering unique treasures and seasonal treats. The evening’s highlight is the spectacular parade starting at Grant Community High School concluding down Grand Avenue to the village’s downtown area. Following the parade, gather at Millennium Park for the breathtaking annual Tree Lighting ceremony. Share your holiday wishes with the man in the big red suit himself and capture the magic with keepsake photos at Santa’s Cottage after the tree lighting and parade.
