R.I.P. Tiny the Spider

By: Jonathan Jones 09/19/2012

If you are like me, you remember seeing Tiny the Spider hanging on to the American Eagle every September for Six Flags Fright Fest. For me it was a sign that fall was right around the corner and soon to be upon us. I loved seeing Tiny every year, as she has been there for the past 21 years and meant the park was officially transforming from thrills to chills. Well, it was a sad day yesterday as I found out that Tiny the Spider, was found deflated and unresponsive at the theme park earlier this week. Park officials determined that Tiny simply could not hold on any longer and she perished beside the American Eagle after attempting her 22nd annual climb up to her post. For me and other Lake County residents and thrill seekers, Tiny is considered the icon of Fright Fest. They have said that her babies will remain on the coaster this year as a tribute to their mother. Tiny will be laid to rest on the Six Flags grounds, with visitation and services taking place at the park on Saturday, September 29.

What is your memory of Tiny? I hope to see you at the visitation and services on Saturday, September 29 as we remember Tiny.
