Winthrop Harbor Memorial Day Parade & ServiceThis weekend we thank those who risked their lives in the service and remember those who have passed protecting our freedom in Lake County.

Grayslake, Libertyville, Lindenhurst, Round Lake, Waukegan, Lincolnshire, Lake Zurich, Winthrop Harbor, Lake Villa, Wauconda, Mundelein and Barrington are all holding respective Memorial Day Parades and/or festivals and tours.

It is also a great opportunity to visit Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum for their World War I exhibit or the Waukegan History Museum at Bowen Park for their Civil War: The War Efforts in Waukegan Exhibit.

Here are your top things to do this weekend in Lake County:

Huge Memorial Weekend of Music at Blarney Island1.)    An extended weekend comes a dime a dozen. Jump on the shuttle to Blarney Island as they host a Huge Memorial Weekend,’ jammed pack with four days of live performances. Join the Antioch establishment as each day is a different theme: Friday is Country Night with Gone Country and Saturday is Hello Nuvo with the Modern Day Romeos headlining. Sunday features the Cover Kings and the Lounge Puppets, while Monday you can enjoy the stylings of Patio Daddy-O.

Friday – Monday 22-25; 27843 West Grass Lake Road Antioch

50th Annual Antique Car Club of America Car Show and Car Corral2.)    AACA  and Volo Auto Museum partnered up to celebrate half of a century  on the famous summer car show known as the 50th Annual Antique Automobile Club of America Car Show and Car Corral. Experience the nostalgic, famous and beautiful cars that you can buy, or sell one of your own. You could also enjoy a beer and wine garden at the Betty Boop Outdoor Grill.

Sunday May 24; 10 a.m. Volo Auto Museum, 27582 Volo Village Rd, Volo; Adult Admission: $14.95, Senior Admission: $11.95, Child Admission; $8.95

Barrington Art Festival3.)    This weekend is your opportunity to gaze upon work from some of the most talented artists from across the country at the Barrington Art Festival. This two-day, free admission festival displays work of 125 artists practicing mediums such as ceramics, fiber glass, jewelry, metal, photography, water colors and wood. Besides the artwork, the Fest features great food, fun kid-tivities and live music.

Saturday-Sunday May 23-24; Sat-Sun 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Village center Cook & Station Street Barrington.

4.)    Make your way out for a night back to the future (or past), as Miller’s Dog N Suds Drive is hosting the Classic Car Cruise Night. The season opener of these classic car displays will feature a live broadcast of WRLR Radio and rides that are from 1973 or older. Enjoy a tasty dog from Miller’s Dog N Suds Drive In and watch the show from the picnic area or bring a lawn chair.

Saturday, May 23; 6:30-9:30 p.m. Miller’s Dog N Suds Drive In, 517 Washington St Ingleside.

5.)    It is the final weekend of shows for Linguish and Strangers at Three Brother’s Theatre in Waukegan. The story by Edward Einhorn is a two-part series of one-act plays that examines characters suffering from neurogical conditions.

Friday and Saturday May 22-23; 8 p.m. Three Brothers Theatre, 115 N. Genesee St Waukegan
