It’s a weekend full of wild costume parties, voodoo dolls and surprise romance. Who couldn’t be more curious about those three plots combined? Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is now showing at the Citadel Theatre in Lake Forest. This comedy originally written by Christopher Durang revolves around the relationships of three middle-aged single siblings. The trio of siblings bicker and discuss their lives while Spike is Masha’s love interest whose claim to fame is landing the role in the sequel to Entourage: Entourage 2. The original Broadway production of the play was nominated for six Tony Awards winning ‘Best Play’ in 2013. For the remainder of the schedule, Citadel Theatre is offering tickets for only $20!
This comedy-musical gem based off the book by Joe Masteroff is set in the 1930s in a Hungarian parfumerie and the store clerks. The original stage play won a Tony Award in 1964 for Jack Cassidy’s portrayal of Steven Kodaly. Just picture the drama that may occur on a reality show between employees with text messages (instead of love letters) and Tinder at a modern-day Sephora. The show runs through June 18.
