Have a Hoppy Oktoberfest: Upcoming Oktoberfest Celebrations

There's a huge difference between October and Oktober.  That one little letter changes all of our expectations.  That one simple change brings smiles to faces, and makes us all a little German. Here's a guide to Oktoberfest celebrations in Lake County:

German Restaurants

Wunder-Bar A beloved tradition in Antioch, Wunder-Bar has recently reopened with a new menu     Try some traditional German Cuisine at Wunder-Bar in Antioch.  While the traditionally German menu features plenty of delicious options lie the sauerkraut soup and different specials every night, be sure to try their potato pancakes that are made with traditional grated potatoes.

Fritzl's Restaurant and Oktoberfest Fritzl’s in Lake Zurich serves up authentic German, Austrian and other European Cuisine and has recently been given the Daily Herald 2013 Reader’s Choice Award for best German Restaurant.  Showing off their German spirit, they're throwing a huge Oktoberfest with dinner, drinks and dancing on Oct. 5.

Cocktails begin at 6:30pm Dinner at 7:30pm Dancing at 8:30pm

Enjoy Austrian mixed salad, unlimited Bratwurst and Thueringer, Chicken Schnitzel, spaetzle, homemade potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage, dinner rolls, Colombian coffee and warm apple strudel… all for $29.95 per person.  Bring cash for wonderful selection of German beer, wine and liquor.  Call 847-540-8844 for reservations.

 

Oktoberfest Celebrations Oktoberfest 2013 Crossroads of Ivanhoe Friday Oct. 4 - Saturday Oct.  5

Oktoberfest in Lake Villa Saturday, Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m. – 12 a.m. German/American Cultural Center 259 West Grand Ave.

This is the final weekend of this Oktoberfest celebration but there’s still time to enjoy food and drinks, Bavarian music, German dancers and a huge dance floor!

 

Oktoberfest  at Grandwood Park Ball Field in Gurnee     Saturday, Oct. 12, 4 – 10 p.m.

This is an Oktoberfest for everyone so grab the family and head out for some kids games and baggo tournament.  Warm up with some apple cider and hot chocolate at the bonfire and finish it all off with fireworks!

Long Grove's OktoberFest Saturday Oct. 12 -Sunday Oct. 13

Enjoy live entertainment, including folk dancing and a variety of German bands. Experience the old-fashioned fun of a family hayrides through historic Long Grove and children's activities. Stay for beer, brats, and traditional German food!

Visit their Village Tavern on Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., through Oct.13 for German Food and music are just the beginning to this event that includes free hayrides (1 - 5 p.m.)  Visit the beer tent for live German music and experience imported Oktoberfest beer from Munich!
