Well today is National Doughnut Day across the country. Dunkin’ Donuts is doing their promotion in the U.S., but before you aimlessly run to their chain, you should check out the assorted pastries that are made in your back yard.
The origin is unknown, but the first donut is said to be made in the United States by Dutch settlers. Hanson Gregory was said to be the first creator of the doughnut with a hole in it as a mere 16 year old. However, there are other studies that say the first cookbook including the tasty treat was in an 1803 British volume in a chapter of American recipes.
I’m talking about the sweet flavors baked and concocted right here in Lake County. Here is your guide as we celebrate National Doughnut Day in Lake County!
