It is a trying time as we deal with the novel coronavirus in Lake County. However, many of your land of lakes eateries are providing curbside pickup, carry-out and delivery.
For the foreseeable future, dining in is not an option due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Support your local cuisine makers as they will still be serving the high-class fare that you know and love. If you aren't eating out now, get your hands on gift cards when these businesses reopen. Here is a list of the Northern Lake County Restaurants providing curbside pickup, carry-out and delivery.
The Third Lake eatery is the sister location of the famous Mundelein eatery, Bill's Pub and Pizza. Pizzas, sandwiches, salads and a jam-packed menu of other delights in the Northwoods themed eatery. For every $60 order, you can receive a $10 gift certificate to use from April-June.
The Waukegan golf course is running their fish fry Friday from 3-8 p.m. Bonnie Brook's carryout menu features entrees for just $8.76 highlighted by fried cod, walleye, catfish, baked tilapia, ribs and broasted chicken. As of now, Bonnie Brook will only run this special on Friday, March 20.
Cafe Pomigliano is a breath of fresh air with a bright and modern take on authentic Italian dishes by Chef Eduardo Martinez in family-owned eatery. This Italian-inspired restaurant serves the classics. The Pomigliano family, for a fourth of a century, has prided itself on making daily, mouth-watering homemade dishes. The eats are prepared by recipes that originate from the small community right outside Naples, Italy. To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus the eatery is closed to dine-in customers. During this time, the Libertyville restaurant will offer catering and carryout services.
It’s like living in cocoa heaven. The Chocolate Sanctuary makes most of their dishes with the magical cocoa bean. Whether you are munching on their cocoa infused barbecue sauce on their lollipop chicken pops, snacking on beef satay skewers with cocoa peanut chili sauce, chomping on the sanctuary’s chopped salad with chocolate vinaigrette or chewing on a chocolate dessert, expect big things with everyone’s favorite sweet treat somehow infused. The cocoa sanctuary is providing carryout/curbside pickup and delivery services through this time for lunch and dinner.
The MainStreet Libertyville eatery features Greek and Mediterranean cuisine highlighted by octopus, pastitsio, moussaka, souvlaki, salads and a selection of 30 Greek vinos. The chef brothers, Nick and Theo Dimitriou, have a combined 20+ year career in the culinary industry. The brothers stay curious and prepare new innovative dishes constantly while being mindful of the changing seasons and utilizing local ingredients to put out an exceptional product. The kitchen is staying open during these trying times as they are serving takeout and curbside pickup for the dinner hours. If you order through Ubereats, you can take 10 percent off.
The Libertyville eatery specializes in Chinese cuisine. The traditional and authentic restaurant also features a variety of dumplings, including shrimp, pork and Chinese chives, beef and onion, pork and celery, zucchini and egg, as well as vegetable side options. The family-owned restaurant folds goodness and happiness in each dumpling. Dangela's Dumplings is open for carry-out and delivery through Grubhub, Uber Eats and DoorDash. The Libertyville hotspot is also providing frozen dumplings with cooking instructions.
A Chicago staple, the stuffed deep-dish pizza makers, are offering no contact delivery and curbside pickup. Giordano's has received acclaim as "Chicago's Best Pizza" by NBC, CBS Chicago, the New York Times, Chicago Magazine, the Chicago Tribune and more. The delectable Windy City restaurant is offering no contact delivery and curbside pickup.
Named after storied-Waukeganite Ray Bradbury's fictional town, Green Town Tavern is the city's local hang out spot that distributes an exceptional array of drinkables and fare. Green Town is open for pick up through lunch and dinner time.
The Winthrop Harbor microbrewery produces adventurous ales. The Lake County suds maker is also highlighted by a taproom, beercade and live music. Since 2018, Habor Brewing has taken innovative flavors and created exceptional libations. The Lake Michigan bordering brewhouse offers 12 different potables on tap. Harbor Brewing Co. has coined the phrase #HarborStrong T-shirts through the shutdown. They are also offering their craft brews via to-go or curbside services.
This downtown Grayslake pub serves innovative brews, modern American cuisine, locally-sourced craft spirits and top-notch draft wines all handcrafted in-house. Light the Lamp has 14 craft suds drafts created internally. Besides libations, the hockey-themed also offers unique meals, including burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads, shared plates and desserts. Light the Lamp is open providing carryout and curbside service for eats and brews.
Main Street Social, located in downtown Libertyville is a restaurant and bar that puts a twist on Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Their menu features housemade pastas, fresh seafood, bountiful salads, meat and cheese boards, delectable desserts and more. Besides the innovative dishes made from scratch, the MainStreet Libertyville eatery provides fine wines and craft libations. Not only will Main Street Social diners receive 20 percent off on carry-out orders, but you can take advantage of an extra $20 gift card if you purchase a $100 gift card.
The Libertyville Irish pub and brewery is Lake County's first craft brewhouse. The Lake County Libation Trail participant is open during these trying times with a little taste of normalcy. Lunch, dinner and their innovative beers (growlers and four packs) are available for delivery and curbside takeout. Mickey Finn's urges foodies and brew aficionados to use ToastTab and/or Uber Eats for delivery - or just call in.
Miller’s Dog N Suds is the home of the Coney dog and their famous creamy root beer. The Ingleside drive-thru styled eatery is a four-generation, family-owned business that recently celebrated its 50th birthday in 2017. A little touch of the past is still relevant today because you can’t pass up a delicious hot dog. Miller’s Dog N Suds regularly hosts concerts and classic car nights as well. At one point, there were 600 locations of the restaurant. Currently, 14 Dog N Suds is still in operation with one other place in Lake County (Grayslake). Other items on the menu at the iconic restaurant include Texasburgers, corndogs, cheese dogs, chicken sandwich and their shake of the month. Miller’s Dog N Suds is open from May through October. Also, it's a drive-in, so social distancing is practiced by default.
The Ray Bradbury-themed, Waukegan brewhouse is a part of the Lake County Libation Trail. The Waukegan suds factory boasts 20 traditional and experimental brews and creates the adult beverages on site. Shares a co-location with Oppidan Spirits Distillery. The Waukegan brewer will offer 32-ounce crowlers, and packs of bottles for curbside pickup. Eventually, they will provide 64-ounce growlers for lighter beers.
North Shore Distillery is the first craft distillery in the land of Lincoln. Since 2004, Derek and Sonja Kassebaum (and their larger than life friend Ethel) provide vodkas, rums, gins, absinthes and unique seasonal beverages. The self-proclaimed nerds and Illinois-Made inventors love to experiment on new flavors with a plethora of different ingredients, and that’s why the award-winning Green Oaks distillery designs innovative art with their liquid creations. The Green Oaks Lake County Libation Trail participant is open Wednesday through Saturday and Sunday (noon-7 p.m. Wed.-Sat and 2-7 p.m. on Sun.) and offering curbside service to your trunk. They are providing quarantine cocktail kits and everything is 10 percent off. The Kassebaum's are looking to dabble in creating sanitizer.
The family-friendly and doggo friendly Lake County Libation Trail participant is offering their original brew flavors for curbside pickup. Howlers and growlers must be provided by the libationer, but they are also offering four-packs for purchase. The Gurnee brewhouse also features a new beer straight off the presses: Double Dog Dare DIPA with honey. For at least this week, Only Child Brewing Co. offers a special of buy one get one free. Fresh brews as you quarantine.
Visitors can experience authentic Portuguese cuisine in Lake County. The Libertyville eatery specializes in poultry. The chicken dishes are basted with their secret Peri Peri sauces and zesty flavors. The MainStreet Libertyville restaurant's menu also features salads, burgers, wraps, desserts and shared platters. The Port of Peri Peri will be closed for dine-in until further notice. However, they are still open for takeout and delivery via Grubhub and DoorDash.
The vintage Waukegan pizzeria serves thin-crust pies, toasted subs and Chicago-style Italian beef. The facility is structured like a Quonset hut that was utilized by the United States Navy in the 1940s. The Lake County staple has been locally-owned and operating since 1946. As dining in is not an option, the pizza hut is re-upping with their Lake County Restaurant Week offer for delivery:
$20 Dinner Special: one large two-topping pizza, one toasted sandwich, bomber or Italian beef.
$30 Dinner Special: one large, two-topping pizza, one toasted sandwich, bomber or Italian beef and 12 baked wings.
Based in Wadsworth, Route 41 Roadhouse takes great pride in being a family-owned and family-focused restaurant offering a casual dining and bar experience. Newly-remodeled and under new ownership, Route 41 is excited to serve the wonderful people of Wadsworth and the surrounding communities. Stop by and check out their daily food and drink specials. At this time, the Wadsworth eatery is providing curbside pickup and delivery services.
Salutos, a favorite Italian restaurant in Gurnee, draws residents from various local communities. The restaurant features a two-story bar, a large dining room with booths and a private banquet meeting room. Famous for their homemade pasta and the “secret recipe” salad dressing, Salutos has been a hit in northern Lake County since 1990. This full-service restaurant’s claim to fame is the pizza, pasta and courteous service. From their delectable appetizers like Artichoke Heart Fondue, Toasted Ravioli and so much more; to their homemade sauces and pastas; to their pizza, either thin, pan or stuffed, everyone will find something to devour on their menu. During this time, the Gurnee mainstay is offering carry-out orders. Hungry bellies can also take home frozen pizzas.
Delightfully delectable would be a way to phrase nearly 35-year-old breakfast and lunch staple on MainStreet Libertyville. Townee’s got flapjacks for days. The “home of the double egg order,” is your classic, cozy and comfy diner. Besides the buttermilk flavor, Townee Square also serves chocolate chip, rainbow (with M&Ms), and of course, a Mickey Mouse pancake. To get your full taste of autumn, Townee also serves some mean pumpkin silver dollars. Don’t forget to include bananas, strawberries, blueberries, pecans or walnuts if necessary. Peruse the rest of the menu for an exceptional amount of treats. The Townee Square Restaurant will temporarily close its DINE-IN service March 16-30. Need some good news? They will continue to provide CATERING and CARRY-OUT service in that time!
The Grayslake martini and wine bar creates clever libation concoctions but doesn’t skimp on the suds. The Vine offers an array of items and specializes in tapas. The bar/restaurant also features live music acts regularly ranging over a wide variety of genres. The downtown Grayslake mainstay oozes cool vibes. The Vine Martini and Bar has championed the phrase #CommunityStrong. Not only are they providing shirts in these troubling times, but they are also open for delivery orders for lunch and dinner throughout the time dine-in service is closed. The Vine is also selling their alcohol for purchase (first come, first serve, no holds).
The Libertyville eatery specializes in the craft of silver dollars. Wildberry was ranked no. 21 in Thrillist.com’s article noting best-rated flapjacks in the country. Buttermilk pancakes are the restaurant’s bread and proverbial butter; however, they have a variety of flavors that they offer inspired by the breakfast treat. Wildberry’s menu features blueberries in a glaze, strawberries in a glaze, gluten-free honeycakes, their staple flavor wildberry, fig and walnut grain, their signature berry bliss, banana cream pie and a whole bunch more. Let's not forget the rest of their loaded menu. During this time, WildBerry will be providing delivery via DoorDash or Grub Hub.
The Waukegan brewery created innovation bier along with traditional to-style bier. The city brewhouse concocts tons of beers and has a changing lineup on 13 rotating taps. Zümbier is a family run business and Larry Bloom, Founder, and Biermeister wants your journey in beer exploration to be inspirational. The Waukegan brewhouse is open for curbside, walk-in and delivery. They are offering cans, bottles and growler/howler refills.
