The 2019 Marriott Theatre schedule has been released recently, and we can't contain ourselves!
"Memories are Made of This" and with a lineup like this; "Oh The Thinks You Can Think!"
Head to the Lincolnshire theatre with your "Darling Grenadine" to view eight equity shows so you can get a "Footloose." Marriott Theatre will stage five adult shows and three young audience productions.
Don't forget to check out the theatre's two final shows of the season: "Shrek the Musical" (October 5-December 30) and Irving Berlin's "Holiday Inn" (November 7-January 6, 2019)

On one cold December in 1956, four southern gentlemen gathered for a recording session at Sun Record Studios in Memphis. These four guys weren't your average quartet. The group was made up of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins and considered a pinnacle moment in rock and roll history. At this point, Cash and Perkins had achieved some success while Presley and Lewis were virtually unknown. There was a 17-track album that was generated from this jam session and it wasn't released until 1981. The musical shows the four working together in their own element. Initially opening in 2006, the Broadway production collected three Tony Award nominations.
January 16-March 10
"A person's a person no matter how small." That old Doc named Seuss still has tricks up his sleeve as the whos from Whoville try to be heard by the outside world. And who's the only one whose lent them their ear? Horton, that's who! View your favorite storybook characters from the world of Seuss live on stage as the one-hour presentation features our favorite elephant as mentioned earlier, the Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and a slew of other fun-loving fuzzy creatures. The original Broadway production saw Kevin Chamberlin (who played Horton) receive a Tony Award nomination. "Seussical the Musical" will conduct a Q&A for the kiddies following the show.
February 8-March 31
You can't ban dancing!? "Footloose" takes place in Elmore City Oklahoma, which in American history is an actual town that forbade a good ole fashion jig. Not that the law ever took hold, but the 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon (featuring the smash hit song with the movie title by Kevin Loggins) was based on these events that took place in the Sooner State. In 1998, the dancing machine movie hit center stage. The live theatre adaptation was nominated for four Tony Awards winning one in Best Choreography. Follow the story of a Chicago kid who can really cut a rug and see the impact he has on that little Oklahoma town.
April 10-June 2
"Darling Grenadine" follows the show's charming protagonist Harry who lives in Manhattan and works as a songwriter. This musical comedy is a "Swell" story that explores an abundance of themes like the juxtaposition between romance versus reality as well as denial and heartbreak, addiction and loss and so much more. "Darling Grenadine" is based on the book, songs and words conceived by Daniel Zaitchik.
June 26-August 18
Many children are well acquainted with the incomparable Junie B. Jones. Based the novels by Barbara Park, that sassy little diva Jonesy has just entered the first grade. Junie has hit a crossroad in the game of life with Lucille, who doesn't want to be her best friend anymore, but Junie B. buddies up with the new student Herb. Just as she's dealing with her former bestie, her teacher Mr. Scary thinks she may need glasses. With all of these issues, things can't get any worse right? The cafeteria lady is cool, there's an exciting kickball tournament and let's not forget a top-secret personal beeswax journal involved with this live show. There's never a dull moment in the Junie B. Jones experience.
July 12-August 11
Fifteen ninety-five. London, England. "Welcome to the Renaissance" where the writers write, and the brothers hate Shakespeare with so much spite. Nick and Nigel Bottom are brothers attempting to write the play of the ages, but their style is old news compared that of "The Bard." A fortune teller foresees the centerstage future and predicts the Bottom duo will create something for centerstage unheard of at this point; a production that includes song, dance and acting done simultaneously. The Bottoms get their eureka moment and set out to write the first musical in the history of the world. Fame isn't as fantastic as it looks as the Bottoms create a musical about our favorite brunch treat: omelets. Nominated for nine Tony Awards when on Broadway (winning one award), this musical comedy is sure to take the egg.
August 28-October 20
Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip-hop Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they take the Lincolnshire stage in a musical adventure of a lifetime. "Madagascar – A Musical Adventure" makes its triumphant return to the Marriott Theatre. The gang attempts to escape from their Central Park Zoo displacement to return home to their own country – Madagascar. The show is based on the 2005 DreamWorks animated motion picture that originally starred Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith.
October 4-December 29
Based on Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, "Consider Yourself" in attendance for the Marriott Theatre's final show of the 2019 season. You may have to head over to Three Embers or Wright's Bistro for some delectable "Food, Glorious Food," but "I'd Do Anything" to be pals with the musical's lead. Oliver is an orphan that works as an undertaker's apprentice. The amiable child joins a gang of burglars led by Fagin to escape this dead-end job. Oliver is pinched by the authorities for a crime he is innocent of, but Mr. Brownlow, the victim of the crime, takes our British buddy in. Watch one of the most notable productions during the holiday season as Oliver discovers what family really means.
