Things to do this Weekend October 30 - November 1

So many things are ending this weekend from farms, to amusement parks. However, this is the weekend to get into the Halloween spirit. This year is a lucky one as Halloween falls on a Saturday.

If you’re ready to take your youngsters out on the town dressed as their favorite zombie, vampire, ninja turtle, marvel superhero or Disney princess; continue here to see all of the village and city trick or treating hours around Lake County.

With this being the last weekend of Six Flags Great America Fright Fest last weekend, follow this link to read all you need to know before entering the Gurnee park.

Here are the top things going on this weekend in Lake County from October 30-November 1.

1. The last weekend you can experience thrills by day and chills by night at Fright Fest presented by Snickers at Six Flags Great America. Besides the 14 roller coasters you can ride with ghouls, there are six fantastic live shows, six thrilling haunted houses and electrifying street entertainment. For your little critters, the Gurnee amusement hosts a special trick-or-treat trail. On Sunday, get rid of your pumpkins the best possible way at the parks Smashing Pumpkin Event. Pumpkin throwers have an opportunity to win prizes for hitting the target’s bullseye.

Friday-Sunday, October 30-November 1; Fri 5-11 p.m., Sat 11-12 a.m., Sun 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Six Flags Great America, I-94 and Rt. 132, Gurnee.

2. Speaking of last weekend, Richardson Adventure Farm will close their doors for the season after this weekend. The Spring Grove Farm sporting the largest corn maze in the world, also features four other mazes, a pumpkin patch, Christmas trees, zip lining, ZORBing, goat feeding, concessions, wagon rides and so much more.

3. Before you and the kids terrorize the streets for some Halloween trick-or-treating, the man from Berrrrrrwyyyyyn will be in Voooolooo Auto Museum. Dodge rubber chickens as you participate in a meet and greet with Svengoolie. Take a photo, get an autograph and gaze upon all of the fantastic cars featured in movies, TV and more.

4. Experience Halloween beyond trick-or-treating, costumes, and pumpkin carving this year in Waukegan. Instead, celebrate the 10th Annual Ray Bradbury Storytelling Festival with some of the most recognized ghost stories, macabre fables, and creepy tales told on the historic Genesee Theatre stage. The Bradbury celebration doesn’t end, because Saturday the Waukegan Park District’s Ray Bradbury Park hosts Green Town Walk Tours on Halloween.

5. It’s never too early to think about Christmas. Elf the Musical is now playing at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire. Experience this heartwarming and hilarious musical about Buddy the Elf in his larger than life quest from the North Pole to New York City to find his true identity. Audiences from eight to 80 years old will get wrapped up in this holiday classic.
