1.) For over four decades, the celebration of Gurnee Days has been a staple in the community. In the 43rd Annual Gurnee Days Celebration Celebrating Heroes activities will include a bicycle rodeo, live entertainment, farmers market, Gurnee Idol, golf tournament, amusement rides, a 10K race, baby contest, rib fest and eating contest, fireworks, a pancake breakfast, parade, car show, petting zoo, pony rides, games, delicious eats and a talent show.
Friday- Sunday, August 7-9; Friday: 8 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday: 7 a.m.-11 p.m., Sunday: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Viking Park, 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee.
2.) Summer is ending soon and there are only two more Food Truck Friday events in Lincolnshire. A variety of delicious aromas waft through the air as everyone can enjoy a delectable gourmet dish prepared right in front of your eyes. Relax outside at this luncheon and enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts.

3.) When the first Friday of the month arrives, everyone tends to flock to Downtown Libertyville. First Fridays on MainStreet Libertyville is the dining, drinking and shopping event party. On each corner of Milwaukee Avenue, you can find live entertainment, special treats or a wine tasting.

4.) ‘At Last!’ If you are ‘In a Sentimental Mood,’ or ‘Fine and Mellow,’ take your ‘Caravan,’ to the Jazz and Wine Festival in Deer Park. ‘They Say it’s Wonderful.’ The one-day jazz event features performances from Chicago Jazz Trio, Judy Roberts Quartet, Martinis & Sinatra with Dan Ferris and the Orbert Davis Quartet. Face painting and balloon art for the kids.

5.) Enjoy the soaring majesty of the Chicago Fire Kite Team and members of the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois at the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Annual Kite Festival. The schedule includes Children’s Kite-making Workshops, Parade of Kiters and Grand Launch and so much more.
