From outside adventures to indoor shopping sprees, Lake County has it all this weekend. We've got you covered in this edition of top five things to do this weekend January 22-24.

Spend your Saturday gazing at local art pieces from the comfort of your own home, getting in some retail therapy, sipping on local Lake County libations, learning about all things classical horses or exploring the beautiful outdoors.

Shop ‘til you drop in this weekend in Downtown Libertyville for their inaugural MainStreet Libertyville Winter Indoor Sidewalk Sale. Shop hot sales at Libertyville’s premier mom and pop establishments and explore the beautiful downtown area. With 10 participating stores in the Milwaukee Avenue event, you’re sure to find a treasurer to go home with at a great price. 2. Tempel Lipizzan Virtual Tour

Lake County’s world-class horse breeding and training facility, the Tempel Lipizzan Farm, is hosting a one-of-a-kind virtual experience for all classical horse lovers. Join program director and granddaughter of the Tempel Lipizzan Farm founders, Esther Buonanno, as she guides a tour through the mares and foals pasture and the stallion stables. The presentation ends with a stallion-training session. Buonanno will be hosting a Q&A after the incredible interactive virtual tour. The tour is hosted via zoom. 3. Alpine Biergarten at Buffalo Creek

Bundle up and head over to Long Grove’s Buffalo Creek Brewing Co. to crack open your favorite European beer. Convene with your friends and toast at their picturesque alpine winter wonderland German-style brewery. The Lake County Libation Trail partner’s Biergarten is equipped with two acres of land, allowing for all social distance protocols. The biergarten is decked with a blazing fire pit, heat lamps, sheepskin throw blankets, twinkling lights and outdoor table service. Buffalo Creek Brewing Co. is family friendly and offers non-alcoholic specials as well. On Saturday, the Long Grove brewhouse features their Pint of Music segment featuring acoustic guitar singer and songwriter Sarah Day.

4. Volo Bog Tour

Take a stroll outside in Ingleside and take a guided tour of Volo Bog this weekend. Visit Illinois’ only open-water quaking bog and explore this intricate ecosystem. A state park naturalist will guide you for a one hour tour delving into the bog’s water systems, plants and the animals that habitat the environment. Volo Bog State Natural Area follows the public health crisis protocols as masks and social distancing is required.

5. Grayslake Virtual Fine Arts Show

Poet Oscar Wilde says “No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If they did, they would cease to be an artist.” Look through the eyes of Lake County’s local artists and join the Grayslake Art Alliance in their virtual rendition of their Winter Fine Arts Show & Sale. For one day only, virtually gaze at 60 pieces by 21 local individual artists. The art is presented on various different mediums by people of all ages.
