Spring is here in Lake County. The weather has just fantastic. Not great for my allergies, but absolutely comfortable.
For all your upcoming spring events that your heart desires continue here.
St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow – and yes there were some celebrations last weekend. That doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in some more potatoes, corn beef hash and a few brews this weekend. Continue here for everything St. Paddies Day in Lake County.
Here’s what we got planned for this edition of the things to do this weekend March 18-20.
- Serenity now! Be the master of your domain and say hello Jerry Seinfeld as he returns to Genesee Theatre for two shows. Seinfeld has been hailed for his uncanny ability to joke about the little things in life that relate to audiences everywhere. So whether you’re a re-gifter, a close talker, a low talker, a sideler or even a double dipper of the chip, make your way out to the Waukegan theatre or it’s no soup for you.
Saturday, March 19; 7 & 9:30 p.m. Tickets: $49-$150. Genesee Theatre, 203 N. Genesee St., Waukegan.
- That wasically wabbit is back. Your children of ages eight and under can take a picture with the Easter bunny or hunt for treats and prizes at the Vernon Hill Hoppin’ Holiday Hunt. This event also features a continental breakfast and magic show – weather permitting. Register online at the Vernon Hills Park District website.

- March Madness began this week. Basketball is just a game, but there is an educational route about the sport as well. Great Lakes Naval Museum will feature a free-throw admission class to teach students about the math and science behind their favorite sports. The Naval Museum will discuss properties of basketballs, baseballs, tennis balls, golf balls and hockey puck.
Saturday, March 19; 1-3 p.m. Great Lakes Naval Museum, 610 Farragut Ave., Bldg. 42, Great Lakes.
- Shamrock the Block is annual staple in the Wauconda community. Experience Erin Go Bragh as this four-day festival features traditional Irish food, live entertainment, prizes, a four mile run in Irish garb, a St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a leprechaun plunge, a bike ride and more. Head out to Wauconda weekend for the Fourth Annual Shamrock the Block, because this weekend everyone’s a little Irish.
Thursday – Sunday, March 17-20; Downtown Wauconda, 110 S. main St., Wauconda.
- It’s the third Saturday of the month, and you know what that means in Downtown Waukegan: ArtWauk. Gaze upon the work that span various art modems. In addition to the portraits, sculptures and other different artistic vibes, devour some of the delectable dishes at some of the Downtown Waukegan Restaurants. There will also be live performances at this event.
