By: Jonathan Jones 03/03/2017
Here are Lake County's top things to do this weekend, March 3-5 as we head into a new month.
1. Lake County Restaurant Week
Get ready for 10 Days to Savor! Beginning today, Lake County Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to explore new eats and enjoy old favorites. There are 50 restaurants participating and featuring either a prix fixe menu or special restaurant week offer. This 10-day event only happens once a year, so make your reservations now. The event runs through March 12. Your taste buds will never forgive you if you fail to indulge.
Friday, March 3-5. Many locations throughout Lake County. Visit www.lakecountyrestaurantweek.com for details.
2. Northern Illinois Boat Show & Sale
You only witness the best vessels on the waters of Lake County. Get that taste of summer in Lake County at the Northern Illinois Boat Show. You and the family will see the latest models in pontoon, family runabouts, ski boats, jet boats, fishing boats, bayliners, alumacrafts, sea ray boats and an array of other watercrafts at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake. Over 50 boat manufacturers and 30-plus exhibitors are participating at the fairgrounds. Many Lake County vendors are exhibiting at the three-day event.
Friday-Sunday, March 3-5; Fri: Noon-8 p.m., Sat: 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Lake County Fairgrounds, 1060 E. Peterson Rd., Grayslake.
3. Make Your Own Shamrock Open House at Peterson Glassworks
Here’s to a long life and a merry one. For this St. Paddy’s Day, head to Peter Patterson Glassworks to create your own shamrock. You are able to choose your own color for your glass creation, so obviously it will be dressed in green flair. The shamrocks will only cost $25 this open house weekend, normally priced at $45. May the luck of the Irish be with you.
Saturday, March 4; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Peter Patterson Glassworks, 888 Tower Rd., #E, Mundelein.
4. First Fridays on MainStreet Libertyville
MainStreet Libertyville extends an invitation to one and all to the first of many First Friday celebrations in 2017. A variety of fantastic drinks, mouth-watering eats and live entertainment surrounds the event as you peruse the Lake County local mom and pop stores offering promotional sales. Café Pomigliano, 545 North Bar & Grill, Casa Bonita, Mickey Finn’s and O’Toole’s in Downtown Libertyville are also participating in Lake County Restaurant Week. Be there or be square!
Friday, March 3; 6-9 p.m. Downtown Libertyville, Libertyville.
We’ve had a pretty good taste of winter ending soon, however, it’s always unknown if the snow will pay us an announced visit in Lake County at this time of year. The Ninth Annual Ice Meltin’ Blues weekend at the Village Tavern is where the warm tunes are playing. This two-day Long Grove event features delicious plates and blues music from bands that include Sonic Soul, the Cashbox Kings and The Rockin’ Johnny Blues Band.
Saturday, March 4-5; Sat: Noon-10 p.m., Sun: 1-5 p.m.
