Trot by foot or by steed with a brew or two in one hand and a plate of delicious cuisine in the other, and take a tour of the top five things to do this weekend in Lake County!
Cheers to the two-day brew party: the third annual Lake Zurich Craft Beer Fest in Paulus Park. Suds aficionados will be able to sample more than 100 craft beers by prestigious local and regional breweries. Brew pubs like Only Child Brewing Co. in Gurnee, Tighthead Brewing Co. in Mundelein, Roaring Table Brewing Co. in Lake Zurich, Buffalo Creek Brewing Co. in Long Grove, Half Day Brewing Co. in Lincolnshire, Wild Onion Brewery in Lake Barrington and other Lake County Libation Trail™ participants will be in attendance. The fest also features live music and plenty of eats for purchase. The band lineup includes Louder Now and Nerdvana on Friday and Fletcher Rockwell and Lava Rock on Saturday. All attendees will receive a souvenir three-ounce tasting glass. This is a 21 and older event.

Enjoy a brisk jog with mother dearest as the Zion Park District Sports Arena hosts Mama’s 5K Run. The race begins and ends in front of the Zion Leisure Center. The first 200 participants that register will receive a race shirt and goodie bag. Raffle prizes, delicious eats and awards are presented following the contest.

Fare fanatics will go on a Food Truck Frenzy at the College of Lake County. Whether you are considering hiring a food truck for your wedding, office, party at home or you just want to make your taste buds dance; this Grayslake family-friendly event is for you. The foodie festival features food trucks including Your Sister’s Tomato Wood-Fired Pizza, Happy Lobster and more. The proceedings of this event will go towards the prevention of child abuse in Lake County.

It’s National Travel and Tourism Week in Lake County and what better way to spend it than finding one of the area’s most majestic treasures. Trade neighs during a meet-and-greet inside the dancing stallions’ humble abode. On this behind-the-scenes tour, attendees will learn about the Lipizzan history, view the methods of classical riding and receive a full tour of the farm. The tour will end in the Old Mill Creek farm’s arena with a daily training session and a Q&A with the trainers. Tickets can only be purchased prior to the event. No tickets will be sold at the door. Highland Park is reaching a milestone year. The southeastern Lake County city is turning the ripe old age of 150. If you think about it, Highland Park may be one of the founding mothers of Lake County. The city is conducting three tours: the Highland Park Architecture Tour, Hollywood in Highland Park Tour and an art tour. Tickets are available at the city hall.
