The weather is starting to look fair for this weekend, so get out and enjoy Lake County!

Here are the top five activities to do this weekend, May 6-8.

1. Tulip Festival at Richardson Farm

The tulips florets are getting ready to bloom at Richardson Adventure Farm for their Tulip Festival. Visit the Spring Grove acres starting May 6 as the festivities feature over 600,000 dazzling colors of the beautiful flowers, live music, children’s activities, food trucks, wine tastings, homemade treats and memorabilia in the farm’s gift shop and more. Festival attendees receive one free tulip per ticket, while supplies last. 100,000 mixed florals are available in the pick-your-own-area. Richardson Farm has an array of activities for the whole family. Admission includes entrance into the flower field, access to the picnic and activities area around Richardson Lake, live music on the weekends and more. Flowers, food items and memorabilia are available for an additional fee. Photographers are in attendance to snap a memory for an extra admission. The Richardson Adventure Farm festival runs through late May.

Monday: Closed, Tues - Sunday: 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Ages 3 and under free, Ages 4 and up: $12 with one free tulip. Photographers: $100/ day during operating hours. Richardson Farm, 909 English Prairie Rd., Spring Grove.

2. Green Town on The Rocks Opens

Green Town. That was Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Waukegan native Ray Bradbury’s namesake for all things good. Eating delicious food and libations outside on the patio is a good experience for all. Green Town Tavern in Waukegan opens its outdoor facility that rests along scenic Lake Michigan for the season at the City of Progress’s port district. Green Town on the Rocks is highlighted by a variety of live performances; the restaurant’s celebrated dining options, themed events, food trucks and more throughout the warmer months. Green Town on the Rocks remains open through late October.

Friday-Sunday, May 6-8; opening daily at 3 p.m. Green Town on the Rocks, 175 N. South Harbor Pl., Waukegan.

3. Biergarten opens at Harbor Brewing Co. Winthrop Harbor Location

For anyone who loves to sip cold brews and view scenic lake views, visitors can rejoice that Harbor Brewing Co. Lakefront Craft Biergarten at North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor has reopened for the season. The Lake County Libation Trail partner venue, opened through October, features its illustrious suds (including May’s Lake County Libation of the Month Deez (pea)NUTZ Stout), live entertainment and more. This Saturday, the brewhouse celebrates its fourth year in existence as it hosts their Four-Year Anniversary Party. Located on the Lake Michigan shore, the biergarten and taproom is surrounded by the Spring Bluff Forest Preserve that offers stunning views in contrast to the harbor and the Great Lake. Visit HarborBeer.com, as hours and events may change as the season progresses.

4. MayFest at Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum

Come see the work of 40 local artists in the Lake County community at the 2022 MayFest. On feature will be an eclectic mixture of displays that ranges from photography, mixed media, oil paint, pastels, fiber arts, stained glass, graphite, colored pencil, digital design work and a range of live performances. While attending MayFest 2022, the works of the artists will be available for purchase to support their future endeavors. GAA additionally offers workshops for the public to get involved and open their creative eyes. MayFest’s purpose is to promote arts through education, participation and development by providing the featured artists a venue to display and sell their wares.

5. Mother Earth Market at the Brushwood Center

Calling all local artisans and organizations who are inspired by their environment: The Mother Earth Market is working towards a more sustainable future. This is accomplished via the theme of this market and that most of the goods being sold are made from recycled materials and elements found right here in our own Lake County, Il. During the duration of the festival, shop the boutiques of artists, take part in community classes, learn about local organizations, hear live music performances and many more events. The festival will run on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, May 7; 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Sunday, May 8; 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Free admission. Brushwood Center, 21850 N. Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods.
