Let’s toast to the Lake County Libation Trail! “It’s five o’clock somewhere,” as suds aficionados, vino connoisseurs and spirit enthusiasts will be elated with these glasses of “liquid courage.” The Lake County Libation Trail is highlighted by 23 of the most delectable flavors from locally-sourced ingredients. Whether your adult beverage is an ice-cold frothy lager, a dry red merlot or an old-fashioned on the rocks, Lake County has precisely what you need to make your taste buds dance. The November Check-in Challenge runs throughout the month. When craft drinkers arrive at a participating location, they check in using their mobile pass to show they’re in attendance. If libation-ers check into three or more participants of the Lake County Libation Trail by November 30, they are entered into a sweepstakes to win prizes (this includes during curbside pickup and carryout). The grand prize is the “Libation Package” which includes an overnight stay for two with late checkout at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort, a $50 food and beverage credit at Wright’s Brew & Bistro and a sample pack of Five Eyes Honey Ale, made with honey produced at the Lincolnshire resort and brewed by Tighthead Brewing Co. in Mundelein. Text “CHEERS” to 224-706-1133 to start. For more information, head to visitlakecounty.org/libation-trail.

Sunday, November 6-8; Various Lake County breweries, distilleries and wineries.

You’ll be amazed by their maize mazes. Richardson Adventure Farm & Corn Maze is known for having the world’s most massive corn maze. The Spring Grove area spans 33 acres of land and is equipped with 11 miles of trails. The design commemorates the 50th anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement. Earth Day gave a voice to an emerging public consciousness about our planet’s state, and since 1970, we’ve celebrated this holiday in the United States. Besides the famous maze, the Adventure Farm features another five mazes, a zip line, a pumpkin patch, Zorbing rides (a ride inside a giant 11-ball available on weekends), live pig races,  a wooded picnic area, free campfires, pedal carts, pedal trikes, a goat farm, a farm carousel and more. Richardson Farm is open through Sunday, November 8. The farm reopens the Friday after Thanksgiving and invites one and all to cut their family Christmas tree down. You may cut your own fir tree, purchase a pre-cut arbor or pick up a wreath and garland. Visit richardsonadventurefarm.com for details about COVID-19 protocols.

Friday-Sunday, November 6-8; Fri. and Sat.: 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Sun.: noon-9 p.m. Tickets: $15-$18. Various other costs for other activities. Richardson Adventure Farm, 909 English Prairie Rd., Spring Grove.

With infection positivity rates from the novel coronavirus surpassing the 8% threshold for the third straight day, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health suspend indoor service at bars and restaurants in Lake County. However, you can still eat and support local via curbside pickup, carry out, picking up gift cards or braving the chill and eating outdoors. Support your local cuisine makers as they will still serve the high-class fare you know and love. Outdoor eateries include The Shanty in Wadsworth, Primo Italian American Cuisine in Gurnee, Main Street Social, Shakou and O’Tooles (also providing carryout) in Libertyville, Park Street Kitchen and Dover Straits, Bill’s Pub Pizza in Mundelein, Bill’s Pub North in Third Lake, Green Town Tavern in Waukegan, Beelow’s in Lake Zurich, Maggiano’s Little Italy in Vernon Hills, Bontà in Lincolnshire, Bluegrass in Highland Park and more. The Vine Martini & Wine Bar in Grayslake, Chrissoulas in Libertyville, Chessie’s Restaurant in Barrington and more are providing foodies with top-notch carryout and curbside pickup.

Friday-Sunday, November 6-8. Various locations in Lake County.

Birding is a trend sweeping the masses, especially during this public health crisis. The Park District of Highland Park hosts a Birding 101 class at Rosewood Beach that sits on Lake Michigan scenic shores. The area is touted as an excellent birding destination, recognized for its exemplary habitat, primarily due to Lake County’s commitment to wildlife preservation.  The class teaches amateur Aves spotters to learn where they are, how to identify and background information of the ones they see live. Tickets can be purchased on the park district’s website at pdhp.org.

Saturday, November 7; 9-11 a.m. Admission: $10. For birders ages eight and older. Rosewood Beach Interpretative Center, 883 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park.
