December weather is crazy in this edition of things to do this weekend December 9-11.

1. Quentin Road Christmas Musical
Take a special journey with Quentin Road Baptist Church this Christmas as the secrets from Christmas Past are unlocked. With a 300-voice children-and-adult choir, dramatic lighting and live animals (including an 8-foot camel), see what really happened on that first Christmas night long ago. Add this into your annual holiday tradition and relive the classic year after year. The Lake Zurich musical orchestrated by David Clydesdale performs their show on December 16-18 as well.

2. Behind-the-Scenes Tour at Tempel Lipizzans
If you hear an emphatic neigh in the distance, it is coming from the lips of the majestic Tempel Lipizzans in Old Mill Creek. Now that the season is over for performances, schedule this unforgettable meet and greet in the dancing stallions’ humble abode. On this behind-the-scenes tour, attendees will learn about the Lipizzan history, the methods of classical riding and receive a full tour of the farm. The tour will end in the Old Mill Creek farm’s arena with a daily training session and a Q&A with the trainers.

3. Dickens of a Holiday
Experience the holiday festivities as MainStreet Libertyville hosts its final weekend of Dickens of a Holiday in Cook Park. This event features a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m., Victorian Tea time at the St. Lawrence Episcopal Church from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (reservations are required), the Children’s Shoppe at Petranek’s Pharmacy, tours of the Ansel B. Cook Museum and a showing of Elf the Movie (starring Will Ferrell) at the Liberty Theater. Attendees can receive admittance to Liberty Theaters by bringing a donation of one canned food item at 10 a.m.

4. Vigneto del Bino’s 2016 Holiday Celebration
Here’s a Holiday Celebration you won’t forget (as long as we drink responsibly). Vigneto del Bino Vineyards & Winery is offering a slew of specials for their end of the year party. Join the Antioch vino specialists as the event features discounts on wines, a raffle for a gift basket, musical entertainment and delicious eats.

5. Wonderland Express Christmas Concert
Wonderland Express onlookers will get a special treat this weekend. The renowned Chicago Botanic Garden event urges attendees to get into the holiday spirit with a Christmas Brass Concert. The brass band’s program will feature everyone’s holiday tune favorites. The band of horn players are putting on two shows at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Alsdorf Auditorium.
