May weather comes a bonus for the craft beer aficionado, who can rejoice with Illinois Craft Beer Week (ICBW) kicking off this weekend. The week starts on May 13 and ends May 20, with a large range of options to take part in. Breweries all throughout Illinois will host events that may be in-person or as a hybrid-style that mixes in-person and online interaction. During this week of imbibe, visit Lake County Libation Trail participating ICBW brew houses like Half Day Brewing Co. in Lincolnshire, Phase Three Brewing Co. and Roaring Table Brewery in Lake Zurich, Ravinia Brewing Co. in Highland Park, Side Lot Brewery in Wauconda and Tighthead Brewing Co. in Mundelein. Brew enthusiasts are encouraged to show their support with the #DrinkIllinois Summer Passport. The initiative emboldens visitors to obtain a Passport Frame from a participating brew house (or download your own at IllinoisBeer.org), snap a photo experiencing the Land of Lincoln beer and post on social media utilizing #ILPassportPlus for a weekly drawing of a $50 gift card to a brewery. The summer passport program runs longer than the Prairie State, suds-influenced week (ending June 9). Beer Under Glass at Chicago Union Station will be the first event of the week-long celebration on May 13.  In this celebratory week running through May 20, it’s an opportunity to experience other Lake County Libation Trail partners like Black Lung Brewing Co., Bosacki’s Brewery, Buffalo Creek Brewing, Harbor Brewing Co. (and other flagship locations), Light the Lamp Brewery, Liquid Love Brewing CO., Mickey Finn’s Brewery, Nightshade and Dark’s Pandemonium Brewing, 9th Hour Brewing Co., Only Child Brewing Co., Wild Onion Brewery, Wright’s Brew & Bistro and ZümBier Brewery. Visit the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild website, IllinoisBeer.org to see a full list of events, what will happen each day and how you can participate.
